Post-spontaneous-symmetry-breaking power-laws after a very strong earthquake: Indication for the preparation of a new strong earthquake or not?

چکیده
It has recently been found that the evolution of preparation a strong earthquake (EQ), as it is monitored through fracture-induced electromagnetic emissions (EME) in MHz band, presents striking similarity with thermal system temperature drops, since distinct steps phenomenon spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB) can be identified. Here, study EME band analogy to systems extended phase local fracture structures follow after SSB (and occurrence main EQ). By comparing associated strongest EQs (Mw=6.9) occurred Greece during last twenty years 3D Ising model, way distinguish whether possible identification post-SSB power-laws immediately very EQ sign for new or not provided. In suggested approach, time series analysis method known critical fluctuations used, enhanced by autocorrelation function, while role latter proves decisive.

where Re means "real part. " It is easy to see that P(x) is the time rate of change at which the electric field does work per unit volume on the sources. Hence S'= (1/Ssr) g;lb;*lb; is the energy density and the components S' (a=1, 2, 3) are the components of the Poynting vector. Since the field P is arbitrary, we can strip off the integrals in (9) and obtain the familiar diGerential form of th...
متن کاملA Major Earthquake in the Strong Crust: the 1999 Chi-chi Earthquake
The 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake (MW=7.6; ML=7.3) ruptured in an area considered unusual in that, historically, large earthquakes have been unheard of and the background seismicity are low. A detailed investigation of the crustal characteristics based on seismicity, subsurface structures and GPS surveys shows that crustal strength in the low-seismicity block was most likely stronger than in the surr...
